A Separate Reality

A biography of an Ojibway native who became the first aboriginal ever to be recognized as a great modern artist painting on canvas.  Norval Morrisseau painted the sacred dreams and rituals of his Northern Ontario people. In his lifetime he achieved extraordinary fame, but he also inflicted enormous harm on himself with alcohol and drugs. An encounter in Vancouver with a young man named Gabor Vadas brought stability and a last creative phase.
